Day 215

While I was out getting some stuff for Marti’s Birthday (Which is on Sunday), I found 1 penny in the aisle at Dollar Tree, and 1 penny while walking out of the mall.

Now you might be asking yourself, what the hell am I doing at Dollar Tree while shopping for Marti’s birthday present. Well, I have a reasonable explanation for you…….wrapping paper! (Plus some gag gifts). I don’t think that you should ever spend much money on wrapping paper. It is just torn up and thrown away, so what’s the point? It’s not like you can really tell between a roll of $1 wrapping paper and $5 wrapping paper. Sure the stuff I got today, is a bit thinner than the “name” brands of wrapping paper that people are used to, but I doubt that Marti will ever notice!

Late night find - 1 dime while taking out the trash.

Survivor Update

Well, it’s that time again. I hate to admit it, but Marti and I still LOVE Survivor. During the season, it’s a tradition that we always get a Papa John’s pizza and spend our Thursday night watching Survivor. Last season, I started to use this forum to give my thoughts after each episode. As far as I know, Brian is the only other person who seems to care. So, this recap is for you Brian!!

What makes Survivor so great is how they can always tweak the game to keep it interesting, without changing the basic principals. Probably one of the reasons that it is one of the few reality shows that has lasted.

Speaking of tweaking the game. Let’s take a moment to talk about Stephanie being brought back to play again!

I LOVE how they listed her as a Pharmaceutical Rep. In the past year, she has spent 6 months playing Survivor, and probably the other 6 months doing press junkets for CBS and trying to milk her 15 minutes. I’m not knocking it, I would do the SAME thing. But let’s be fair, her occupation should be listed as “Reality TV Star”.

Remember when Rubert lost the Pearl Islands, which was mostly his fault for staying on the fence way to long. Well, next season they brought him back for All-Stars, and after he lost that, they just created some award for him (It was like Most Popular Survivor or Most Improved Survivor) and just handed him 1 Million Dollars. Along those same lines, do you get the feeling that if Stephanie gets voted off, Probst is just going to give her the “gansta hug” on the way out of tribal and slip 1 Million Dollars in the back of her sports bra?

Not sure about this whole EX-NFL Quarterback angle. CBS is playing it up pretty hard, which leads me to believe that this guy isn’t going to be voted off anytime soon. I see him being this season’s Tom. Although it would be fun, if next season the new wrinkle was that one tribe was made up totally of Ex-NFL Quarterbacks. Imagine the story lines;

How will Troy Aikman do this week? Will a coconut hit him on the head and give him his 15th concussion of the season?

Will Jim Kelly lead the BEST tribe into the Immunity Challenge only to lose again?

Will Dan Marino continue to put up Hall of Fame food gathering stats, while never showing up for a immunity challenge?

If my profession was as a Magician’s Assistant, I don’t think I would allow CBS to put it next to my name. At least just put “performer”. Then it all makes sense when you leak that amateur porn tape onto the Internet.

After seeing how sick the guys were after the hike, I think it is only a matter of time till we have our first Survivor to die on the show, or shortly thereafter. I guess the only question is, will CBS attach a sponsor to them? “This week’s dead Survivor memorial is brought to you by Raid”

In the promo for next week, it was nice to see Bobby John break out the “Bobby John Crazy/Psycho Face”. “Dirty Camera guy getting WAY TO many shots of sweaty girls in Bikini Tops” you are on the clock…….
