Day 224

Early this morning Hurricane Rita hit our area. And by that, I mean that we had slight drizzle and slight wind gusts. We never even lost power! So we now have a ton of water, batteries and canned food. But this is better than the alterative.

This afternoon Chris and I decided to meet up and drive around to see some of the damage. Before I met up with Chris, I stopped by Starbucks and found a dime in the middle of what used to be their drive-thru awning.

We couldn't help but making a few stops and change searching. We were able to do some serious searching at a Car Detail and Wash place. We also hit up a Sonic and Jack in the Box.

After I left Chris, I hit a few more drive-thru's. The worst part, was that people kept on driving up and asking if it was open, because NOTHING was open around town. While driving home, I spotted a penny on the on-ramp to the freeway. Normally this is a place where you could EVER stop and search. But since it was very slow out today, I was able to get out of the truck and find 3 more pennies and a nickle.

All told today, I found 1 dime, 2 nickles and 30 pennies.

I will now leave you with some pictures that I took today, showing some the damage that Hurricane Rita did in our area.

Total for the Day - $0.50
Total for the Race - $55.68
