Day 308

Today Marti and I went out to run some errands and saw first hand the holiday masses at the mall and other places! Wow. I actually got excited thinking about making a change run at night, because I knew that many people would be at Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks consuming and dropping change.

I did find 1 dime and 2 pennies while walking around the mall with Marti.

At night, I did make a change run, and while Starbucks dissapointed a bit (1 quarter, 1 dime and 2 pennies) Chick-Fil-A did not (4 quarters and 6 pennies).

I almost missed the quarter at Starbucks since it was so discolored. You can see it below next to a normal quarter. It is also interesting to note (Maybe just for me) that quarters are Texas and Indiana, the state that I used to live in and the state that I currently live in. The 3 other quarters I found today were minted before the state thing, or else the other state might be my FUTURE residence and I would be able to tell the future from my change!

Total for the Day - $1.55
Total for the Race - $86.27

It's funny how a lot of people don't pick up money cause their shamed or they think it's a waste to bend down. I learned from my mom to do that, she always told me and still does that money is money no matter if it is lying on the ground or how much it is. I once found a $10 bill in safe when I was in line at the cash register. I took out my wallet, then saw it and pretended I drop it. My friends and mom call me a money dectector or metal dectector because I find a lot of good stuff. It is nice to know some other people are clever enough too. I never thought about it as a change race or seeing how much I get maybe I'll start count, another thing people who do this could keep it separate from their piggy bank and see how much money people are wasting by not picking it up.
