Day 385

Today Marti and I had a mission. First, Marti wanted to get a cowboy hat because in 2 weeks we are going to Rodeo Houston to see the Rodeo and a Leann Rymes concert. While walking into the Woodlands Mall, I found 1 penny in the street.

We then wanted to watch the IU vs Michigan basketball game, so we went to a local bar and had lunch and watch IU win at Michigan.

Then I wanted to go to Fry's Electronic store to pick up some stuff. We wanted to get a second external hard drive to back up our first, along with some CD jewel cases, so I could replace the broken ones we had, and continue to sell off our CD collection on eBay.

While walking into Fry's I noticed that they had some sort of promotion going on, because they had fake money taped to the ground. Thankfully it grabbed my attention, because after a quick scan of the area, I noticed that there was a REAL bill on the ground. At first I thought I had hit the jackpot with a $5 bill, but then as I got closer I noticed this........

That is right, a $50 dollar bill. Well I picked it up and quickly caught up with Marti. As we walked to the back of the store, I told her what happened and actually asked her if I SHOULD turn it in. See, many times Marti is my moral compass and while I was already excited about keeping it and making this post, I felt I needed to consult with someone with......well.......higher moral standards than my own. Marti didn't hesitate and said that I should keep it, because if I turned it in, an employee would just pocket it. So thankfully I have already passed my $100 mark, and I can count this toward the daily totals. I think that I have beaten Chris for the month of March, and possibly the year of 2006 already! But knowing Chris, he will probably go on some streak of finding $50's and $100's! Either way, I leave you tonight with a picture of my new best friend!

Total for the Day - $50.01
Total for the Race - $160.00

Sweet find. For what it's worth, I think you're OK keeping it, but if you wanted to try to locate an owner, the best way to do it would have been to go to the manager, or customer-service desk, and inquire as to whether anyone had reported losing a sum of money without actually giving a denomination.

That said, you're under no obligation to do so with truly found money. Good work...
