Day 355

After work today I went to the gym, and after my work-out I was changing and found 1 quarter near the bottom of the lockers. I thought to myself that this only put me $0.05 away from my goal of $100, it was then that I noticed ANOTHER quarter!!! I had planned on taking a picture of the coin that put me over $100, but I did not bring a camera into the locker room. So you don't get a picture of the coin in it's natural setting, but rather on my desk.

Now that I have hit my goal of $100 in 365 days, there are a few people that I must thank;

  • Brian - For really giving Chris and myself the idea of blogging
  • Chris - For being my race buddy, even if he has gotten an insane amount of change
  • Liza - For supporting me through the race
  • Noah - For being the next generation Change Racer
  • Mr. French Fry - For being the first person (That I didn't know) to visit the blog and comment
  • Marti - For supporting my crazy idea for the race
  • Hurricane Rita - For providing some excellent change searching conditions
  • Wendy's, Starbucks, JR's Car Wash & Chick-Fil-A - For providing so many of my finds
  • LPkitten, Meridona, Beth & Ahamed - For reading the blog and supporting the race
  • The Lazy people of Houston - For not picking up the change that I found
  • 99 cent Store - For providing the container which holds the $100 in change
  • Barry's Pizza - For being the birthplace of the Change Race idea
  • Peanut & Hoosier - My cats........um.......I'm sure they did something. Thanks for not eating the change?
  • The Spammers - For making me turn on the Word verification on my comments, allowing for the fun that Chris and Brian have with the passwords
  • Everyone who has ever stopped by my blog......THANKS!
I also found a dime and 3 pennies at JR's Car Wash on the way home.

So where do we go from here? Well, first off, I will now be able to count paper money toward the total, and I do not plan to keep my found change separate from my other loose change. Chris isn't down with this, but it is personal decision. I will still keep track of all my finds, but no longer keep them separate, I just don't see a reason.

And even though this was started as a race to $100, I plan to continue the blog and searching for change. I look at this as a lifestyle change and I really do enjoy the blog. Plus there is always the possibility that Chris could fall into some sort of coma, allowing me to catch up. So don't fret, I'm not going away.

As for the $100, as mentioned before, I am going to buy 100 scratch-off lottery tickets with the money. I am actually VERY excited about this idea. As the time gets closer, we will take bets on how much money I will win back on those tickets. But first comes a lot of coin rolling! Once I get the $100 rolled, I will take it to the bank, get my $100 bill, and then take my chances with the lottery. I will provide pictures all along the way, but like I said before, first come a lot of coin rolling!!

Total for the Day - $0.63
Total for the Race - $100.33

Let me be the third to offer my congratulations but the first to offer my mazel tov!

Noah is stoked, too; so stoked that he thought he spotted a quarter ("penny") at Gymboree, but it turned out to be a metal thing to lock the door.

We'll be looking forward to the lottery quest... as for the change-rolling party, I might recommend a few six packs and making a day of it.

Nice work...
