As you know from my last post, blogging everyday was getting to feel more like a chore, and less of a fun activity. So I have come up with some ways to adapt the blog, because I still want to blog, but I want to get back to a point where it is fun and not a chore.
1. I am going to post once a week for the time being. This may or may not be permenant, only time will tell. But I'm going to try to post sometime in the Friday-Sunday range.
2. This is more for me - I am only going to keep montly change totals. So the daily totals are no longer going to be kept in an Excel document by me. It will only be by the month.
3. I am done titling each post Day 445, Day 446, etc. Taking a cue from one of my favorite TV shows of all time, Seinfeld, I am going to start each title with the word The. I don't want Week 1, Week 2, anymore. And I don't want to rack my brain trying to come up with something cute each week. So this is the solution. Good enough for Seinfeld, good enough for me.
4. That's about it
And is it working? In a word, YES. I am currently writing this on Wednesday night, because I am starting to go through blog-withdrawal. I couldn't wait until Friday. I haven't felt that in months!
On Wednesday, I was getting some gas for the truck (At $1.99 per gallon!), and when I pulled the gas nozzle out of the truck, the excess gas was bascially vomited all over my jeans. I still had a few more errands to run, but when I finally made it to Schnuck's, I was laughing to myself, because I smelled like SO MUCH GAS! Maybe the fumes were getting to my head, but I thought it was funny. I found 2 pennies in the Coinstar machine, and drove home with the windows all down, because I couldn't handle the gas smell! (It took about 5 washes, some OxyClean & Baking Soda, but the jeans had to be dry cleaned to finally get the smell of $1.99 gas out of them).
On Friday I toyed with the idea of buying a new truck, but the guy at the dealership wouldn't accept my offer, and I wouldn't budge, so there is no new truck. Thanks go out to Chris for his help in my negotiatitions.
On Friday night, 1 penny was found at Blockbuster.
Total for the Week - $0.03
Total for the Race - $196.42

That gas story is appropriately Seinfeld-esque. Reminds me of the episode about B.O.
And that Chris... he's the master negotiator as far as I can tell. When I hooked up with him last December, I recall a story about his negotiations on a house.

Brian - It's funny you bring up Seinfeld. Before I could do the test drive this week, the car dealer guy had to gas up the car. I mentioned it was like the episode where Kramer takes the car past E. He didn't laugh, and makes me happy he didn't get my business.
Chris is a good negotiator, but can also be a d**k (I mean that in the best possible way), which helps!
Kitten - Good to hear from you. Sorry, I haven't commented in a while either. I have been reading your stuff, and happy to see you made it through the coup!
Yeah, I wish I were a better negotiator ... ahem.
I also have to admit that I'm not entirely fond of that episode, but if you had re-created that episode, I'd have to re-evaluate my position. I'm not so fond of many of the shows from that final season or so.
The trick to good negotiation is to 1) Make sure everyone gets a little something and 2) always be a bit of a d**k.
